HTC Prophet/Dopod 818pro service manual

This is the HTC Prophet aka Dopod 818pro/Qtek S200 service manual. As my previous post about the Raphael/Touch Pro service manual, it's jam packed with how to dissassemble your Prophet so you can replace the case like I did or open it just for fun.

Astraware Boardgames

Astraware Boardgames

I haven't posted any games on here yet. As mentioned in my previous post about the Windows Mobile site, there are plenty of tips & tricks on the site. There are also some games that you can download. 1 of them is Astraware Boardgames and it is the full game & not a trial. Remember the good ol' days of playing checkers or chess when you were younger? Then you can take this anywhere with you on your Windows Mobile device!

Boardgames includes Chess, Backgammon, Ludo, Checkers, Reversi, Nine Men’s Morris, Snakes and Ladders, and Tic Tac Toe. Each game gives you the option of playing at one of three levels: Easy, Medium, or Hard. The rich user interface evokes the style of traditional wooden board games, and you can even customize the rules so you can play it your way.

Turning your Iphone into Windows Mobile

I've been quite productive in blogging today, eventhough I should be working or studying or finishing off my dictations. But no, I've trawled the net and posted 3 new postings (including this) today!

Gil from has made this incomplete guide as he calls it if you wanted to make your Iphone look like Windows Mobile. Well not really a GUI change, but more of a 'productivity' change and gives tips on how to turn your Iphone into a productive tool and not just some fancy phone/music player/gaming device.

If you've missed the Iphone review, have a look here

Touch Pro LED mod - not for the faint hearted!

bigshady's LED mod

Wow!! bigshady from PPCGeeks is one brave man!! He has modded his Touch Pro LED's into this colourful LED configuration. Of course, if you don't have a steady hand & know soldering, then suggest you not to try this at home!

Congrats to him on making this mod and making his mark on it! I wouldn't dare do this on my touch pro...

iCEPhone - a pda phone that can save your life!

iCEPhone - The Swiss Army knife of pda's

I was browsing (the shop where I bought my Touch Pro) and in the "Coming Soon" section saw this tri-flip phone - the iCEPhone and it grabbed my eye. Curiously, I clicked on the link.

iCEPhone - The Swiss Army knife of pda's

This is one hell of a pda-phone. It was initially designed for the military for god knows what. When all folded out, the manufacturer says it is a micro-notebook complete with keypad and track/mousepad. iCE stands for "In case of Emergency". There is an iCE button, sorta like a panic button that you can push, and it opens up the Medical program that can tell you to do CPR step by step and other life saving instructions. It can record what has been done and can compile a quick history for hand over to a medical personell. It can save your Medical history in a safe file which can be accessed.

Enough about the specialised function of the iCEPhone. Now the tech specs. It runs Windows Mobile 6 (yes 6), has Wifi, GPS, 3G and because of the flip out, it can function as a games player.

They label the iCEPhone as the Swiss army knife of the pda, even is dual SIM. Apparently when it is all folded up, it is surprisingly thin. Expected to be released soon - May 2009 and approx $1000. This gadget won't be out of place in James Bonds' arsenal! They also have a military version as well.

I don't know if this pda can save your life, but is quite handy for the lay-folk if you don't know basic life saving skills or to save your medical history. For the medical professional like me, I kinda doubt that the medical software is useful, since we're all taught the ABC's. If the medical phone joined forces with the likes of Skyscape then I think this device would be better. With prices estimating at $1000 (USD?) it's gonna be quite an expensive device but you do get a micro-notebook (or netbook?)

iCEPhone - The Swiss Army knife of pda's

Originally designed to meet the exacting requirements of theBritish military, the iCEphone™ is a combination of two excitingnew products that can either work independently or together:a cross-platform medical software package and a phone that sets a new industry standard in convergence technology.

The cutting edge micro-notebook touch phone is the Swiss Army Knife of handsets, effortlessly combining four main devices:

  • Windows Mobile micro-notebook

  • Fully featured 3G touch phone

  • Games player with multiple triggers

  • Satellite Navigation via GPS

It is beautifully engineered, ruggedised, and effortlessly changes shape to adopt multiple user interfaces. A full QWERTY keyboard with large keys and a proper mouse are firsts for mobile phones. Also included are WiFi, Bluetooth, Push To Talk (PTT) and dual SIM.

iCE Aid is designed to assist anyone, anywhere in the world affected by a medical emergency. The software package reduces the time to receive appropriate treatment – the critical factor in emergency medicine. It has three main functions:

  • Provides step by step emergency first aid software to lead you by the hand and show you what to do and how to do it

  • Automatically records what has been done and compiles a handover report to give to the emergency services

  • Holds your medical records in a safe and secure fashion

iCE Aid is for everyone. Whether you are going about your daily life, travelling alone in the mountains, trekking through the desert, swinging through the jungle or gliding over the ocean waves and you need some medical help - here it is. It is particularly suited to remote contractors, travellers and backpackers who may need to deliver some care themselves; or access foreign healthcare in remote parts of the world with sparse medical services.

Microsoft Windows Mobile website

Windows Mobile

I was having a look at the Microsoft Windows Mobile site. It is even better now. You can get updates for Active Sync, Windows Mobile Device Center and Office Mobile. There are previews of pda's running WM and also what WM has to offer - familiar software like IE (even though I use firefox on my laptop & Opera on my Touch Pro), Office and Outlook. Information on how to get started with WM pda's are also included.

I'm still wondering why Microsoft still hasn't perfected WM for the masses. Palm used to be THE system, then after the T5 which I have and models after it, it seemed sooo outdated. It was a bit ok when Palm released the Treo for WM. Now Palm is coming back with the Pre using it's own OS. When the Iphone was released, everyone thought it was the best thing since sliced bread with it's ease of use & fluid GI. Enough about that. Back to the WM site

Register your email and you can get updates & tips on WM straight to your email monthly. Under the Free Extras section, you can get ringtones and free software but apparently limited to US customers only. I managed to download Guitar Hero 3 though a few months back and a few other games, I can't remember if I put down US as my country, but I don't think so. Try your luck if you're not from US and see if you manage to download the games. If you are a developer, there is a section dedicated to you. I would love to make my own apps but just don't have the time to learn. There is a link to the Windows Mobile Catalog which takes you to an 'App Store', but it's basically a front for Handango, Pocketland & Mobiland. When will the "Real App Store" come live as rumoured here?

Anyway, have a look here:

There are quite a few versions according to where you bought your device and the clever guys at xda-developers have found some serial tweaks to enable you to download them at the HTC site, which requires a valid s/n. Unite For Hunger And Hope

All you have to do to help end world hunger is to join thousands of others bloggers on April 29 and write a post about world hunger.

BlogCatalog members and Heifer International are partnering to call for the end of world hunger and start of hope on April 29. All we ask is that you join thousands of other bloggers and write a post about world hunger on April 29. You can make a difference.

• Right now, more than 500 million people are living in "absolute poverty" and more than 15 million children die of hunger every year.

• World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the population is underfed and another third is starving.

• Even in the United States, 46 percent of African-American children and 49 percent of Latino children are considered chronically hungry.

Organizations like Heifer International are the solution. Every day in April, Heifer International is lifting people out of poverty by providing communities with livestock and agricultural training to improve lives and inspire hope. What can you do?

• Join this event and add a badge to your blog before April 29.

• Watch for upcoming news releases and topic backgrounders.

• Visit Heifer International to learn more about Pass On The Gift.

• Make a small donation or take some other action to end world hunger.

• Post about world hunger on April 29 with links to solutions all over the world.

Shake and Save: Innovative screen capture program

This is a smart & innovative screen capture program that I found out today. It only works on pda phones with an accelerometer though e.g. Touch Pro, Diamond, HD, Xperia, as the name implies: Shake & save. Reminds me of Talladega Night's (A comedy with Will Farrell & his sidekick, forgot his name) - Shake & bake!

The concept is simple, you shake your phone & this program takes a screenshot of it in .Png, .Bmp, .Gif, .Jpeg. Hold on tight to your phones because the developers are not responsible if you drop & ruin your phones!

Shake & save:innovative screen capture program

The website also has 2 other cool apps called gPC - a car performance calculator & GPS refresh rate meter which is self explanatory. See here for another review of another great screen capture program called Capsure.
